F1 fans have long bemoaned the lack of overtaking opportunities around the Circuit de Monaco. The trouble is that the dense population of the Principality leaves little room to expand the track. What many may not know is that the Monegasque government is building a new development into the sea, called the Anse du Portier. Could this be the opportunity needed to keep the course competitive for F1 in the future?
In this 'proposal' I suggest that the track could be extended into the Anse du Portier, creating a straight after Mirabeau Bas followed by either a hairpin or a sweeping double corner. This would increase likelihood of overtakes, both at the new corner(s) and in allowing a longer run up to and through the tunnel to the Nouvelle Chicane.
